BootForge — Privacy Policy

BootForge ("the app", "we", "us") is an Android app that helps you create and manage Ventoy-powered multiboot USB drives from your phone. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information. It applies to the BootForge Android app published on Google Play.

The short version: BootForge has no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and no crash-reporting SDKs, and requires no account. Your settings and any files you download stay on your own device. The only information it ever sends us is what you actively choose to send — an optional feedback message you write, and the purchase check needed to unlock BootForge Pro.

Information we collect

Nothing in the background, and no profile of you. BootForge does not require an account and does not ask for your name, contacts, location, or advertising/device identifiers. App settings (such as theme and language) and any operating-system images you download are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us. The only data that ever reaches us is:

Feedback you send (optional). If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message you write, an optional reply email address (only if you type one so we can reply), and basic technical context — app version, Android version, device model, and language — to help us reproduce the issue. If you don't send feedback, none of this is collected.
Purchase confirmation. If you buy BootForge Pro, the app sends the Google Play purchase token for that order to our server to confirm the purchase and unlock the feature (see Purchases below). This does not include your payment details.

Network connections

BootForge connects to the internet only to do what you ask it to:

Fetch its catalog of operating systems and tools, and Ventoy's boot files, from our content delivery network (cdn.bytehavenstudios.com). This is a download only — no information about you is sent.
Download operating-system images, when you choose to, directly from the official project websites, vendors, or authorized mirrors.
Send your feedback, when you submit it, to our feedback intake (bytehavenstudios.com).
Confirm a BootForge Pro purchase with our verification server (api.bytehavenstudios.com).

As with any internet request, the servers involved — including our hosting provider and content delivery network — may automatically log standard technical data such as IP address, timestamp, and the file requested, for security and reliable operation. We do not use this data to identify, profile, or track you, and we do not combine it with any other information.

Purchases

BootForge offers an optional one-time BootForge Pro unlock. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we never receive or store your payment details. To unlock the feature, the app sends the Google Play purchase token for your order to our own verification server to confirm the purchase is valid; that token identifies the transaction, not your payment information. Google's handling of purchase information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Permissions the app uses

USB host (OTG) — to detect and write to the USB drive you connect.
Internet — to fetch the catalog and download images you select.
Foreground service / notifications — so downloads and file copies can continue with a visible notification while the app is in the background.
Storage access — through Android's Storage Access Framework, BootForge only accesses the specific files and drives you explicitly select. It does not scan your storage.

Data sharing

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or tracking — BootForge contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs. The limited data you actively send us (feedback, and the purchase check) goes only to our own systems, or to Google Play for billing.

Data retention and deletion

BootForge stores its settings and downloaded files only on your device, so uninstalling the app removes them. The only data we hold is any feedback you chose to send us; if you'd like us to delete a message you sent (and any reply email attached to it), contact us using the details below and we will remove it.

Children

BootForge is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
